The Meadows Museum, in association with the Texas Fashion Collection at the University of North Texas, is preparing an exhibition that will highlight the phenomenal legacy of 20th-century master fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. The exhibition will present more than 70 of his creations, along with some 20 dresses and accessories by other famous designers whom this Spanish icon inspired and mentored such as Oscar de la Renta, Emanuel Ungaro, Hubert de Givenchy, and André Courrèges. The majority of designs featured in this exhibition will draw from the vast holdings of one of the world's finest and yet least-known fashion collections: the Texas Fashion Collection in Denton, Texas. Its archive reveals the refined and cosmopolitan taste of some of Texas' most prominent individuals, both during and after Balenciaga's lifetime. This groundbreaking exhibition will introduce the public to the creative genius of Balenciaga and demonstrate the extraordinary mark he left on future generations of fellow haute couture designers and their strong connections with Texas.

El Meadows Museum, en colaboración con Texas Fashion Collection at the University of North Texas, está preparando una exposición sobre el extraordinario legado del modisto español del siglo XX, Cristóbal Balenciaga. En esta muestra se incluyen más de 70 de sus creaciones, además de 20 modelos y accesorios realizados por otros modistos que trabajaron inspirados y bajo el tutelaje del maestro español, tales como Oscar de la Renta, Emanuel Ungaro, Hubert de Givenchy, y André Courrèges. La mayoría de los modelos que se presentan en esta exposición procede de los vastos fondos que se conservan en una de las más refinadas y menos conocidas colecciones: The Texas Fashion Collection en Denton, Texas. Esta colección es perfecto ejemplo del más refinado gusto cosmopolita de algunos de los de miembros de la sociedad tejana más prominente, que adquirieron obra del maestro durante su vida y en época posterior. Esta importante exposición permitirá al público comprender el genio creativo de Balenciaga y pondrá de claro relieve, no sólo la indeleble huella que dejó en futuras generaciones de creadores de alta costura, sino también los férreos vínculos que mantuvo con Texas.
